Experienced Finnish architectural and interior studio Bolder Development Oy won international tender by the shopping center Europa that was run to select partners for its reconstruction. Architects and interior designers will be tasked with functional planning, new space tuned to daily needs and sense of privacy- as this is how the shopping center Europa, which is at the heart of Vilnius business center, intends to greet its visitors after the reconstruction.
“Reconstruction of Europa aims to offer visitors functional concept of modern shopping center. We aim at every square meter of shared space to be adjusted to clients’ convenience and assigned clear function. During the tender Bolder Development Oy stood out by its experience and progressive outlook, likewise they suggested concept which is not only unique but also meets newest shopping center interior trends. After the reconstruction the shopping center will ensure greater privacy for visitors, their comfort, shopping ergonomics, while solutions employed will reflect post-pandemic clients’ preferences and will stay relevant for at least another decade”, says Europa CEO Eglė Juškienė.
Bolder Development Oy which won the international tender announced in the Nordics, has partnered before with more than 15 shopping centers in Finland, Baltics and Russia, including such Finnish key shopping centres as Sello, Ratina, Matkus and others.
“In carrying out the Europa reconstruction we focus on contemporary mood, yet cosy and exclusive visitors’ experience. The aim of the design project is to create an easy going, relaxing atmosphere for busy business district visitors. New functionalities and usage of space will provide a place to meet and enjoy from morning to dawn. This is particularly relevant in the context of the pandemic – the shopping center will stand out with its flexible planning, private spaces and other nonconventional solutions”, says Anna Bevz, Bolder Development Oy founder and CEO.
During the soon to commence reconstruction, Bolder Development Oy will be in charge of creating and carrying out the new concept of the shopping center as well as the interior design. Viconus, which worked at major current shopping center reconstructions, has been selected as a partner for reconstruction project manager and technical supervision.
The reconstruction of shopping center Europa is expected to be carried out in 2021-2022.

Shopping center Europa has been operational since 2004. More than 100 retail and service spots do their trade in the 22 thousand square meters center.
The center is owned by Baltic Horizon Fund, which is a registered contractual public closed-end real estate fund managed by the alternative management company Northern Horizon Capital AS. The fund is listed on the Nasdaq Tallinn and Nasdaq Stockholm stock exchanges.
Baltic Horizon Fund portfolio consists of 15 real estate properties in the Baltic capitals, with total space of 153 thousand square meters and total value of portfolio assets over 355 million euros.
In Vilnius, Lithuania the fund owns Europa shopping center, Domus Pro shopping- and office center, as well as Duetto and North Star office centers.
